Shared Maternity Care

Dr Maneesha Manglick is a Shared Maternity Care Affiliate, having undergone the required training and accreditation. She is therefore able to provide shared ante-natal care for women who are booked to give birth as public patients at the following hospitals:

  • The Royal Women’s Hospital
  • The Mercy Hospital for Women
  • The Northern Hospital

Shared care means that your pregnancy care is shared between Dr Maneesha and the hospital-based doctors and midwives, who work as a team to provide you with the best ante-natal care possible. This includes sharing the responsibility for the communication and management of results and abnormal findings.

Shared maternity care is a popular option of care for healthy women with a normal pregnancy. You can choose shared care if the hospital doctors decide that your pregnancy is low-risk.

The biggest benefit of shared maternity care is the continuity of care that it provides, allowing you to be seen at our practice for most of your visits, in an environment that is comfortable and close to home. This usually results in fewer visits to the hospital. Shared maternity care also allows you to build a relationship with the practice and Dr Maneesha, and continue seeing us after the birth of your child. As a mum herself, Dr Maneesha very much enjoys providing shared maternity care to the patients at the practice.

You can still access shared maternity care at this practice with Dr Maneesha even if she is not your usual GP.
