COVID-19 VACCINES

COVID-19 VACCINES – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Summit Medical Group will take part in Phase 1b of the COVID-19 Vaccine rollout with vaccination clinics expected to commence in mid-April 2021.

This cohort includes everyone over 70 years of age. You may also be eligible if you are younger and have a chronic illness, are an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adult over 55 years, or perform a high risk occupation.

Please check your eligibility using the COVID Vaccine Eligibility CheckerIf you are not part of this cohort, please continue to come back to this page regularly as we will update it as the roll out continues.

The COVID-19 vaccine is free and the vaccination service will be bulk-billed for all eligible patients with a Medicare card.  (Please note: if you are eligible but do not have a Medicare card you cannot be vaccinated at this practice.  You’will need to attend a Respiratory Clinic or State Vaccination Clinic to get vaccinated)

The vaccine is given as 2 doses, 12 weeks apart. The vaccine cannot be given within 14 days of another vaccine (including the flu vaccine).

Our nursing and medical staff who will be administering the vaccine have all completed the mandatory training and obtained the necessary certification.

If you have any questions regarding COVID-19 vaccinations, especially if you have questions related to your specific medical history, we suggest that you make a time to discuss this with your regular GP, prior to having the vaccine.

COVID-19 VACCINES – BOOKING INFORMATION

Summit Medical Group are currently registering the names of patients who are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccines and will book people in for vaccination clinics as soon as the vaccines become available in mid-April 2021.

Please call the practice on 9923 7888 and provide us with your name and contact details. Interested patients will be contacted in order of eligibility and registration date.

If you are not an existing patient of the clinic, you must register as a patient and make an appointment with one of our GPs to discuss your health prior to making an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

While you wait to receive your COVID-19 vaccine, the Department of Health recommends that there are some things you can do to get ready – Department of Health – What Should I do before I get Vaccinated for COVID-19.

This will enable you to get an Immunisation History Statement to prove your vaccination status once you’ve had your COVID-19 vaccine.
