TRAVEL MEDICINE

Summit Medical Group provides up to date medical advice for any travel itinerary. Our doctors and nurses have travelled extensively and are knowledgeable about many different destinations.

We are a yellow fever accredited clinic and can provide yellow fever certificates.

When you call to book please inform our reception staff where you are travelling to – more exotic destinations or complex itineraries may require a longer consultation.

We stock a wide range of travel vaccines, including Yellow Fever, at the practice ensuring that we are able to meet all your travel needs.

In addition, we also provide:

  • Personalised travel medicine consultations, including for those travelling with children.
  • Destination printouts free with each consultation.
  • Vaccination certificate books with your consultation.
  • Corporate and executive travel advice for business travellers, including pre- and post-assignment medicals.
  • A reminder system so you don’t forget to come back to complete your course of vaccinations.

Please bring to your appointment:

  • A copy of your travel itinerary.
  • Records of any previous vaccinations.
  • A record of any medications that you may be taking.
  • Your Medicare card.

The travel consultation will be bulk-billed to Medicare, however, there is no rebate for travel vaccines under Medicare. Many private health insurers will cover at least some of the cost of your vaccines – check with your insurer if you are eligible to claim.

We recommend that you book a consultation with one of our practice nurses at least 6 weeks prior to travelling if possible.

Remember though, it’s never too late to vaccinate.
